I plugged this into my USB-C port on my phone and I had the option to turn on Ethernet tethering. I plugged the Ethernet cable into my Windows XP laptop and it Instantly recognized it and connected.

Even the fastest WiFi clocks out around 800Mb. When connected to the hub via this adapter and an Ethernet cable with RJ45 at each end, allows for up to full speed of 1Gb.
